grateful monday

baby fern

i am grateful for all the plants that are finally starting to shoot up. every time i see one i think maybe this time the warm weather is here to stay. i am grateful for cinco de mayo just because i like to say it. say it with me, cinco de mayo, it's fun isn't it? i am grateful to be reuniting with some family i haven't seen in a couple of years. i am grateful for ice tea and, because i am now tired of the poetry, i am grateful that national poetry month is over. wooohooo!

sunny day

spiky

today was one of those days, just the right kinda hot, lots of sun, no humidity, the noises from outside were fairly joyous. it was a great day to open up all the windows and let spring in. it was also a great day to hang out on the back patio with the dogs.

this weekend

it's nice to finally have the windows open. i pulled some plastic down and let the fresh air in. i though it would be an excellent time to fix a leaky faucet.
the faucet leaks in the shower and it was getting progressively more like a tiny stream so i asked the amazing k if he could help. my knowledge of thingamajigs and whatsits is pretty limited. he was more than happy to help because he is very gracious like that. so he fixed the shower no problem and asked if there were any others. i said yes the faucet in the kitchen sink leaks a little and that is where it all fell apart. in the end, there was grumbling and banging and a trip to the hardware store and some more grumbling and also some more loud noises. the kitchen faucet now leaks in a new spot and the bathtub faucet, which was fine, is now leaking. i swear, we didn't even touch that one.
i felt it best not to post pictures of the mean faucets or of us standing there with our whyareyoudoingthistome faces on.

while we're on the subject

big pile o mulch

this is a pile of mulch.
a couple of months ago we had some nasty storms that downed quite a few trees. apparantly m knows just who to sweet talk because a shiny new dump truck left her this present.
look how tiny my car looks next to this pile.
